Iranian President: Iran-Iraq Railway Link a Strategic Pillar of Regional Integration
“The Iran-Iraq railway project is one of the most vital axes of cooperation,” Pezeshkian stated. “Its swift implementation will enhance trade, cultural exchange, and regional connectivity, while reinforcing economic bonds across the Middle East.”
Unity as a Shield Against External Threats
As Chairman of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Pezeshkian reiterated the Islamic Republic’s commitment to unity among Muslim nations, asserting that such cohesion is the most effective deterrent against foreign plots.
“Whenever Islamic unity prevails, the schemes of the U.S. and the Zionist regime are doomed to fail,” he said.
He also highlighted the role of free trade zones and cross-border commerce in promoting regional security and prosperity.
Iraqi Officials Echo Support for Strategic Partnership
In response, Qasim al-Araji affirmed Iraq’s full commitment to the bilateral security agreement and described Iran-Iraq security as “inseparable.” He emphasized that Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government view their shared border with Iran as one of the safest in the region.
Al-Araji called the railway project a “strategic initiative” that would deepen both economic and political convergence, and pledged Iraq’s unwavering support for its completion.
“This is a historic opportunity for regional security cooperation that can unlock broader economic and political integration,” he noted.
