Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations:

A global uprising against Israel has occurred, but Arab countries remain silent

In a statement, a copy of which was provided to the Taghrib News Agency (TNA), it stated: "A profound and tangible shift in the global stance regarding Israel's genocidal war against Gaza is taking place. Although this change is belated and comes more than 19 months after the aggression, it is undoubtedly significant. This is a historical turning point: Israel is losing the immunity it has long enjoyed, and the costs of this war are rising beyond Tel Aviv's expectations."
A global uprising against Israel has occurred, but Arab countries remain silent
The statement continued: Countries that once firmly supported Israel's occupation are now changing their positions. In particular, the European Union, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada have gone beyond words and have taken real actions.
The UK is considering recognizing the state of Palestine, imposing sanctions on Israeli settlers and settlement projects in the West Bank, summoning the extremist Israeli ambassador, and halting free trade negotiations with Israel.
Just hours before these actions, Spain and six other European countries also took similar steps. The Prime Minister of Spain declared ending the blockade and the starvation war by Israel against Gaza as a priority. In a notable reaction, Israel suddenly agreed to allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, which is evidence that international pressures will be effective.
This significant shift in global attitudes reflects a growing consensus: Netanyahu's war is aimless, unethical, and devoid of responsibility. Despite Israel's power in severe attacks and continuous bombings, the regime's army has been unable to achieve any of its declared objectives since October 8, 2023, including the return of captives, the elimination of Hamas, and the security of Israeli settlements around Gaza.
In the past 19 months, none of these goals have been realized. All captives who have been released so far have been freed through negotiated agreements with Hamas, not through Israel's military power. This war has revealed the limitations of this occupying force and the failure of its political vision.
Israel's strategy of collective punishment—mass killings, starvation, and destruction—has had the opposite diplomatic effect, and even its closest allies now view this war not only as a moral failure but also as a strategic liability that threatens to destabilize the region further with each passing day.
The Deafening Silence of the Arab World However, amid this historic global awakening, one painful truth stands out: the Arab world is conspicuously absent.
While Western governments are beginning to take a stand, Arab countries, despite their proximity, wealth, and religious responsibilities, remain absent and distant from the equation. The recent Arab League summit in Baghdad ended with complete inaction, without resolutions, sanctions, or a united stance. None of the Arab governments have taken bold and independent actions to confront or prevent Israel's aggression.
Worse still, several Arab capitals have decided to maintain their relations with Israel despite the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Political expediency and strategic calculations have taken precedence over justice and solidarity. Normalization projects, security coordination, and economic cooperation with the Zionist regime continue unabated.
