Hojjatoleslam Shahriari:

Geographical borders have been designed by colonial powers with aim of creating division within Islamic Ummah

According to Taghrib News Agency, at the beginning of this meeting, Hojjatoleslam Shahriari referred to the goals and mission of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, stating: "In this forum, we strive to achieve Islamic unity and bring the schools of thought closer together, and we work to identify and eliminate the obstacles to the unity of the Islamic Ummah."

He reviewed the historical context of the divisive policies of global imperialism, emphasizing: "Over the past three hundred years, global imperialism has consistently made extensive efforts to create division among Muslims. Colonialism, particularly led by England and later the United States, has caused fragmentation and division in the region, breaking Islamic countries into smaller units."
Shahriari continued: "The large country of India was divided into several countries, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kashmir, and other regions. Parts of Afghanistan were also once considered part of India. Iran, in the past, included territories that today are recognized as independent countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, parts of Iraq, and all the countries along the southern Persian Gulf."
He added: "The Ottoman Empire also once included the current countries of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Jordan, Syria, and even parts of Egypt. However, over these three hundred years, these countries have been divided and new geographical borders, especially after World War II, have been imposed on them."
The Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought emphasized: "The design of these borders was primarily carried out by England, leaving border disputes between each pair of countries to lay the groundwork for future political crises and military conflicts. Examples of these colonial designs can be seen in the Kashmir crisis between India and Pakistan, border disputes in the Iran-Iraq war in the Karun region, the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and border disputes between Pakistan and Afghanistan."
He stressed the long-term goals of imperialism in creating insecurity among Muslim countries, stating: "All the wars of the last 150 years in the region stem from a strategic strategy designed by colonizers to weaken the solidarity of Islamic countries. Some analysts even believe that the war between India and Pakistan has been pursued with the aim of fragmenting the Balochistan region."
Hojjatoleslam Shahriari provided an example of direct imperial interventions to prevent regional convergence, saying: "We were implementing a project to transfer oil through Pakistan to India, which could have fostered friendship and economic cooperation among the three countries of Iran, India, and Pakistan. However, the design of conflict and tension between Pakistan and India by imperial powers prevented the realization of this strategic cooperation."
He pointed to the global imperialist plans to create insecurity and discord in the region, stating: "The project of Hindu extremism is an anti-Islamic project. You are well aware of the Pakistani army and know where its source and management come from. They have deprived the region of peace to seize our resources and maintain their interests."
