Malaysian Council slams Washington’s pressure tactics to halt Iran nuclear activities
Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, the President of MAPIM, in the latest statement of the organization has emphasized Iran’s rights to peaceful nuclear activities calling on the United Nations Security Council to bar resolutions that limit Iran’s rights to peaceful nuclear activities, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said,” The United States, along with other world powers, used the JCPOA as a legal and diplomatic instrument to curb enrichment activities by establishing verified limits.”

He said that the UN Security Council must sanction the resolutions through which the United States means to restrict Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities since Washington does not have unilateral authority at the world body.

Azmi Abdul Hamid said the US sanctions against Iran are grounded in Washington’s determination to use economic leverage as diplomatic tools to bring Tehran back to the negotiation table.

The president of Malaysian council said,” MAPIM, for its part, opposes any coercive approaches that rely purely on pressure tactics”, emphasizing its support for “solution-driven dialogue that respects Iran’s sovereign rights” to peaceful nuclear activities.

The remarks by the prominent Malaysian council comes ahead of the second round of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington.

The first round of the indirect talks was held in the Omani capital Muscat on April 12 with high-ranking delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States in attendance.
