In a statement, Ayatollah Mostafa Mahami, who also serves as Friday prayers leader of Zahedan, said enemy mercenaries who lack the ability to confront the faith and determination of the Iranian people have resorted to assassination, thereby exposing their weakness.
He stressed that no conspiracy could undermine the brotherhood and unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims, adding that such “vile acts” would only strengthen those bonds.
“Sunni Muslims have always stood alongside their Shia brothers in safeguarding the dignity and security of Islamic Iran,” Mahami said, adding that such assassinations would further strengthen their commitment to the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.
He said the assassination, following recent killings in western Iran, showed that the enemies’ objective was to undermine the people’s determination rather than target any particular ethnic or religious group.
Mahami called on the people to remain more vigilant and united than ever and prevent enemy plots from undermining national solidarity and brotherhood.
