The agreement was signed on Sunday by the heads of the two institutions, Hojjat-ul-Islam Mohammad-Mehdi Imanipour and Dr. Mohammad-Hadi Fallahzadeh.
Fallahzadeh said the cooperation would help move studies on Islamic rapprochement beyond repetitive historical and theological discussions toward practical engagement with contemporary challenges facing the Muslim world.
He said the university seeks to train moderate-minded scholars, promote comparative Islamic studies, strengthen scholarly and cultural dialogue among Islamic schools of thought, and develop academic solutions to challenges facing the Muslim Ummah.
Describing the MoU as a link between “knowledge” and “the field of diplomacy,” Fallahzadeh stressed the need to employ modern technologies, including media and artificial intelligence, in efforts to promote Islamic unity.
He said cooperation between the university’s academic and research capacities and Iran’s cultural missions abroad could help identify audiences more effectively, avoid fragmented efforts and enhance the country’s cultural diplomacy in the process of building a new Islamic civilization.
