Sofia Calltorp, Chief of Humanitarian Action at the agency “This is equivalent to six women and girls killed every week between October 2025 and 28 July 2026,” Ms. Calltorp said.
The update comes 11 months after a ceasefire agreement was reached between Hamas resistance movement and Israeli regime which has not halted ongoing attacks by the occupation regime against Palestinians in Gaza Strip.
According to the report, the continued Israeli strikes have led to the killing of 246 Palestinian women and girls by Israeli air bombardment and military ground operations in the war-torn territory.
The report added that the ongoing genocide has fundamentally altered the territory's demographic landscape, with nearly one in four households, an estimated 86,290 families, now headed by a woman, representing more than double the proportion prior to October 2023.
Left to shoulder the full burden of family survival amid catastrophic conditions, these women face unprecedented hardship: 74% have seen their homes damaged or destroyed, 68% lack adequate shelter, and their families have endured an average of eight forced displacements over the course of the aggression.
