A Palestinian youth was killed and two others were injured, one critically, this evening in an attack by Israeli settlers on the village of Hajja, east of Qalqilya.

The Ministry of Health said 20-year-old Omar Mohammad Toubasi succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head sustained during the attack.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its crews treated two people who sustained live-fire wounds during the colonists' attack. One was shot in the head and was later pronounced dead, while another sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was in critical condition.

A 17-year-old boy was also shot in the thigh. The injured were transferred to hospital for treatment.

The attack comes amid escalating violations by Israeli occupation forces and terrorist settlers against Palestinians, their lands and property.

According to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, Israeli occupation forces and settlers carried out 2,030 attacks during August, including 1,402 by occupation forces and 628 by the settlers. The attacks were concentrated in the governorates of Nablus, Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Hebron, Bethlehem, Jenin and Jerusalem.

Attacks across the occupied West Bank has surged since October 2023 when the Israeli regime launched a genocidal attack against the besieged Gaza Strip.
