The Head of the , at the BRICS meeting of heads of judicial systems, called on the members of this coalition to prosecute the perpetrators of war crimes against Iran under universal jurisdiction.
At the BRICS meeting, the Head of the Judiciary, referring to the brutal aggression of the US and the Zionist regime against Iran and the martyrdom of the Leader and 168 students on the first day of the war, called on BRICS members to condemn the violation of Iran's sovereignty and prosecute the perpetrators of war crimes by applying the principle of universal jurisdiction.
Hujjat al-Islam Mohseni-Eje'i, emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran's anti-domination stance, noted: "The Iranian nation has paid a heavy price for its independence for years. In the past year and this year, the Islamic Republic of Iran has faced brutal aggression by the US and the Zionist regime. These attacks and this illegal war, contrary to all international norms, were not merely a limited military confrontation. On the very first day, the dear and beloved Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a large number of oppressed people, including 168 schoolchildren from Minab, were martyred. This is only a part of the crimes of the first day of a 40-day war. In addition, many infrastructures and places, including hospitals, educational and cultural centers, and residential areas, were targeted, and a large number of ordinary people, including women and children, lost their lives. This action by the US and the occupying regime of Al-Quds is a clear example of war crimes, but unfortunately, we witness the indifference of international organizations to these crimes."
Similar crimes against other nations
The Head of the Judiciary, referring to the crimes of the US and Israel against the nations of the world, stated: "Today, this voice may be the voice of Iran, but tomorrow it may be the voice of any of the countries present in this hall, just as in recent years Afghanistan, Iraq, and recently Venezuela have been subjected to criminal and illegal military aggression by the US, and thousands of civilians in these countries have lost their lives. The brutal and child-killing Zionist regime, with its attacks on Gaza and Lebanon, has killed more than 73,000 oppressed and defenseless people, including women and children, and has forced more than two million people into forced displacement."
Request from BRICS members
Hujjat al-Islam Eje'i, raising the question "Will they not ask us tomorrow which side of history we stood on?", made several requests to the BRICS members and said: "BRICS members should, first, condemn the violation of Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity according to international norms, especially the UN Charter, and take the necessary measures to prevent the illegal actions of the aggressors. Second, by applying the principle of universal jurisdiction, prosecute the perpetrators of war crimes and crimes against humanity during the two aggressive wars against the Islamic Republic of Iran."
Emphasis on rule of law and the role of BRICS in the new global order
The Head of the Judiciary, in his speech at the opening ceremony of the BRICS meeting of heads of judicial systems in Delhi, India, while explaining the role of rule of law in the formation of a just international system, stated: "Rule of law and commitment to the law are among the most important foundations of order, justice, and progress in any society. The adherence of governments and international institutions to principles and laws can prevent unilateralism, bullying, and greed. A just international system is formed when all countries, regardless of their power, wealth, and influence, enjoy equal rights, and no power can impose its will and interests on others."
Hujjat al-Islam Eje'i, referring to the role of BRICS in shaping the new global order, said: "In BRICS documents, mutual respect, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, peaceful resolution of disputes, and adherence to the UN Charter have been repeatedly emphasized. BRICS, as one of the most important economic and political coalitions, has an increasing role in shaping the new global order. We seek an order in which no power considers itself above the law. We ask the BRICS members to stand with the law."
Today's world and the duty of judicial systems
The Head of the Judiciary, referring to the actions and transgressions of the hegemonic powers against independent nations, stated: "Today's world, alongside scientific and technological progress, is witnessing the expansion of aggression against the sovereignty of countries, widespread violations of human rights and humanitarian law, illegal and oppressive unilateral sanctions, and increasing pressures on independent nations by some hegemonic powers."
Hujjat al-Islam Eje'i said: "Our judicial systems and legal institutions should not be indifferent to the violation of fundamental human rights, the killing of civilians, the forced displacement of nations, damage to infrastructure, and the impunity of perpetrators of international crimes."
Non-selective justice
In conclusion, the Head of the Judiciary noted: "Today, more than ever, we need justice – justice that is not selective, does not sacrifice the rule of law for political considerations, and does not measure the rights of nations based on their power."
