Shehbaz Sharif: The aggression against Iran is the main cause of the crisis in the region

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, said: "The violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a member of this organization earlier this year led to a major crisis in the region. Therefore, we remain committed to playing an honest role in resolving this conflict, and we emphasize that the only solution is diplomacy."

 Shehbaz Sharif, in a speech at the SCO summit in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, outlined Pakistan's views on current regional developments, the implementation of the ceasefire memorandum, the situation in Palestine, the Indian subcontinent, Afghanistan, and the vision for strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation under the SCO umbrella.
 
He added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, was targeted earlier this year, and its sovereignty and territorial integrity were violated. This caused a major crisis in the region."
 
Shehbaz Sharif stated that the disruption of transport routes resulting from this major regional crisis shook global livelihoods, and many countries, especially Pakistan, have suffered its negative consequences.
 
He said: "Pakistan strongly seeks peace and continues its mission of honest mediation and facilitation."
 
The Prime Minister of Pakistan emphasized: "Diplomacy is the only sustainable solution to overcome the crisis, and we emphasize that the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding will greatly contribute to establishing peace and stability."
 
Regarding the joint defense pact between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, he said: "This pact is naturally defensive, not directed against any country, and has never been planned for confrontation or division."
 
Expressing deep concern over the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the West Bank, the Prime Minister of Pakistan called for an end to the war against Palestinians and demanded that the international community adhere to its commitments to help the Palestinian people.
