Hamas praises Iran official's call for end to war across region

The Hamas movement has welcomed remarks by Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, calling for an end to the war on all fronts across the region, including Gaza and Lebanon.

Rezaei said in a post on X that Iran’s message was clear: the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the United States ends the war and blockade, releases Iran’s frozen assets and agrees to a ceasefire across the region, including in Lebanon and Gaza.

“Until all conditions are met, the strait will remain closed,” Rezaei said.
Bassem Naim, head of Hamas’ Arab and Islamic Relations Office, expressed appreciation for Rezaei’s position, saying the group “highly appreciates” his call for an end to the conflicts across the region, including in Lebanon and Gaza.

Naim said ending the wars would serve the interests of the region, its people and its future. He warned that continuing the conflicts would instead benefit what he described as Israel’s plans to fragment the region, destabilize it and undermine its resources.

Hamas’ statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing calls for a broader ceasefire aimed at ending hostilities on multiple fronts.
