Differences should not become a wall of separation among Muslims

Mawlawi Ebrahimi, a researcher from Torbat-e Jam, referring to the noble verse "And do not be like those who became divided and differed after clear proofs had come to them," stated: "This verse is a serious warning about the fate of nations that, after receiving clear divine proofs, chose the path of dispersion and conflict, and instead of submitting to the truth, fell into blind prejudices and carnal desires."

He added: "The warning of 'a great punishment' at the end of this verse shows that division and discord in the sight of God are not a simple or insignificant matter, but can lead to a rupture in the body of the Islamic Ummah and distance a person from the path of divine guidance."

The researcher and cultural servant from Torbat-e Jam, referring to the views of Sunni scholars and commentators such as Ibn Kathir and Tabari, stated: "The message of this verse is a permanent invitation to the Islamic Ummah to recognize no refuge other than the Book of God and the Prophetic Sunnah. Differences in subsidiary jurisprudential issues, which can be a source of ease and flexibility for Muslims, should not become an excuse for enmity, takfir, and the destruction of brotherly bonds."

Mawlawi Ebrahimi continued: "Holding fast to great common beliefs such as monotheism, the finality of prophethood, the Holy Quran, the single qibla, and the rituals of Hajj is the most important axis for strengthening Islamic unity. Futile disputes and conflicts, in addition to weakening the dignity of the Islamic Ummah in the eyes of the world and endangering social security, distance a person from divine mercy."

Referring to the hadith "The hand of God is with the community," he added: "The hand of God's mercy is with the community, and whoever separates from the community of Muslims has in fact distanced themselves from God's secure refuge."

In conclusion, the researcher and cultural servant from Torbat-e Jam noted: "Today, more than ever, we need to heed the heavenly call of the Quran and move on the path of unity and harmony, because the survival and honor of Islam depend on unity, solidarity, and avoiding factors that cause division and fragmentation. We must focus on commonalities and view jurisprudential differences not as a wall of separation, but as an opportunity for interaction and jurisprudential development."
