Amal Movement warns against Israel’s scorched land policy in Lebanon
The Lebanese resistance movement, Amal, has condemned the recent Israeli aggression against Lebanon urging for prosecution of the regime over the environmental damages it caused in Lebanon.

The Amal Movement, following the environmental destruction and fires that the Israeli regime has sparked in the heights stretching from Niha to Kfarhouna and a number of hilltops in the western Beqaa region, called on the Lebanese government to file official complaints with the relevant international bodies and institutions, and to keep the concerned embassies informed.
It also urged the documentation of these aggressions and environmental damages, with the aim of paving the way for the prosecution of those responsible for such acts and preventing these violations from passing without accountability.
The Amal Movement stated that, according to available information, the fires were ignited following the firing of projectiles by Israeli drones in the area. It stressed that this cannot be treated as a passing incident, but rather constitutes an act of aggression against the environment, forest resources and the land, and requires immediate, documented investigation as well as the adoption of the necessary legal measures.
The office also emphasized the Amal Movement’s opposition to any policy pursued by the enemy aimed at turning the targeted areas into scorched land, noting that such a policy destroys forests and vegetation cover, degrades the environment and threatens local communities. “Lebanon’s environment is not an open arena for destruction,” it said, adding that protecting the land and forest resources is a national and international responsibility.
The Amal Movement stressed that today extinguishing the fire alone is not enough; the perpetrator must also be pursued, the damages documented, and those responsible brought to trial. It further called for all necessary resources to be provided to prevent the spread of the fire and to rescue the remaining forest resources of the region.
The office also thanked the Lebanese Army, the security forces and the Civil Defense organization for their extensive efforts to contain the wildfires, and called for the provision of ground and aerial firefighting equipment to reach the inaccessible areas where vehicles and ground equipment cannot reach.
