The preliminary stage of the 46th International Quran Competition kicks off in Mecca

The preliminary and qualifying stage of the 46th edition of the "King Abdulaziz" International Competition for the memorization, recitation, and interpretation of the Holy Quran has commenced in the holy city of Mecca.

This competition is organized by the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance. During the preliminary stage, judging panels review the recitations of both male and female participants to determine who will advance to the final stage, which is scheduled to be held at the Grand Mosque in Mecca .
 
The evaluation of participants is conducted according to the highest standards of accuracy and transparency, with a group of specialized international male and female judges in Quranic recitations and the rules of Tajweed overseeing the judging process .
 
In this edition of the Mecca International Quran Competition, 334 participants (men and women) from 133 countries are taking part, competing in five categories. These include: full memorization of the Holy Quran with seven Qira'at (canonical recitation methods), full memorization accompanied by word interpretation, full memorization alone, memorization of 15 consecutive Juz' (parts), and memorization of five consecutive Juz' .
 
The total prize pool for the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the memorization, recitation, and interpretation of the Holy Quran has been announced as over 10 million Saudi Riyals .
 
This competition is considered one of the largest Quranic events in the world, held to support activities related to the Holy Quran, encourage Muslims to memorize the divine book, and promote Quranic values and teachings globally. The Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs has stated it is utilizing all its capabilities for the successful organization of this international event, including an electronic judging and evaluation system to ensure fairness and accuracy in participant assessment, along with various services for the competitors .
