Arbaeen; a manifestation of the unity of the Islamic Ummah on the path of love

On the path from Najaf to Karbala, Shia and Sunni walk side by side, serve pilgrims at the Mowkebs, and display a rare manifestation of Islamic brotherhood.

The unity in Arbaeen can be observed in several important indicators: first, the selfless service to pilgrims regardless of their denomination, nationality, or ethnicity; second, the empathy and peaceful coexistence of millions of people with different cultures and languages, gathered solely around the axis of love for the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and the ideals of Ashura; and third, the extensive participation of Sunnis from Iraq and other Islamic countries in setting up Mowkebs, providing security, accommodation, and hospitality to pilgrims – showing that the message of Imam Hussein (AS) transcends religious boundaries and is a message of freedom, dignity, and justice.

This manifestation of unity is not limited to Iraqi soil. In Iran, Sistan and Baluchestan province is a clear example of this Islamic solidarity. The Shia and Sunni people of this province, every year with a spirit full of hospitality, host thousands of Pakistani pilgrims who enter Iran through the southeastern borders to participate in the Arbaeen ceremony.

Popular Mowkebs offering accommodation, food, medical services, and guidance to pilgrims, with the participation of various segments of society and without regard to religious differences, paint a lasting image of Islamic unity and brotherhood.

Today, Arbaeen, more than ever, is a practical response to the enemies' efforts to create division among Muslims. This great march shows that love for Imam Hussein (AS), the culture of sacrifice and service, and the ideal of justice-seeking can bring Shia and Sunni together, and serve as a valuable asset for strengthening unity, security, and solidarity in the Islamic world.
