OIC emphasizes support for Palestinians and preservation of Qods City's historical and legal identity
The 2026 International Conference on occupied Qods City, organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations, was held in Cairo. Participants in the meeting, while warning of the intensification of the occupiers' policies in Qods City, emphasized the necessity of international support for the Palestinian people, confronting forced displacement, and preserving the historical and legal identity of this holy city .

The conference was initiated by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in cooperation with the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, held in Cairo under the slogan: " Qods City: The frontline of displacement and annexation, and the key to achieving a just and lasting peace" .
The meeting brought together a number of officials, diplomats, experts, and representatives of international and regional organizations .
Ashraf al-Awar, Minister of Qods City Affairs, in his speech referring to the sensitive situation prevailing in the city, emphasized: " Qods City is the heart of the Palestinian cause, and practical recommendations must be adopted to strengthen international support for the residents of this city and its holy sites, and to support the steadfastness of Palestinians" .
He also reiterated the position that East Qods City is the capital of the State of Palestine, and that the realization of any just and lasting solution requires an end to the occupation and guaranteeing the Palestinian people's right to self-determination based on UN resolutions and the two-state solution .
Furthermore, Ambassador Faid Mustafa, Assistant Secretary-General of the OIC for Palestine and Qods City Affairs, condemned Zionist regime policies including the Judaization of Qods City, house demolitions, and confiscation of Palestinian property, and called for support for Palestinian institutions and UNRWA .
Similarly, Riyad Mansour, Permanent Observer of Palestine to the UN, emphasized the necessity of protecting Palestinian civilians and halting the Zionist regime's violations in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and East Qods City, and considered an end to the occupation and respect for international law as prerequisites for establishing peace .
At the conclusion of the conference, participants warned that Qods City is at a critical and decisive stage, and that confronting the unilateral policies of the Zionist regime requires more effective action by the international community to preserve the historical and legal status of the city and protect the rights of the Palestinian people. It was also emphasized that the goal of this conference is to examine international mechanisms to confront policies of forced displacement and dispossession of Palestinians in occupied Qods City, and to advance the peace process based on international law and UN resolutions .
