Global “Martyred Leader” poetry award to honor Ayatollah Khamenei’s legacy

The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization announced the upcoming Global “Martyred Imam” Poetry Award, set to take place on July 14th. This international event aims to celebrate the life and impact of the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution through poetry.

A call for submissions drew over two thousand poems from poets in 40 countries. These works, exploring various dimensions of the leader’s personality, will be unveiled in ten volumes, featuring poems from Iran, Afghanistan, Urdu-speaking regions, Arabic-speaking regions, and other global contributors. Children’s poetry is also included.
 
The award ceremony will include the unveiling of two pieces of ritual music. Additionally, 100 selected poets will embark on a journey to Karbala on the occasion of Arbaeen, in commemoration of the “Martyred Imam.”
 
Organizers highlighted the dual nature of the award, encompassing both elegy and epic, serving to introduce the multifaceted character of the leader. The initiative is described as the first major international event following the leader’s martyrdom, underscoring Iran’s continued strength and cultural vibrancy.
 
Winners will receive a symbolic “Martyred Leader’s Fist” trophy, a certificate of appreciation, and a valuable prize, with some honorable mentions invited to participate in the Arbaeen pilgrimage. The award is planned to be held annually in different countries.
