Iraqi resistance groups call for massive public turnout at upcoming funeral of martyred Leader

The Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), or Hashd al-Sha’abi, have issued a statement urging the people of Iraq to participate in the funeral procession for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as the country prepares to receive his remains for a final pilgrimage.

In a statement accompanied by a somber video tribute, the Hashd al-Sha’abi praised the “martyred Mujahid Imam,” urging the Iraqi people to rise to the occasion and accord a historic welcome to a figure who stood as a pillar of the Resistance, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

“Inside this casket lies the master of his era, a commander of dignity and honor, a leader as great as the mountains, and a man as vast as the world,” the statement read, capturing the profound grief of the nation. “Though the weight of the casket may be light, the shoulders of all the children of Adam are too weak to bear the true magnitude of the man who lies within.”

The organization’s call to the public was filled with deep spiritual sentiment: “Hasten to welcome this noble master who has come for a Ziyarat (pilgrimage). After 57 years, he has returned once more. Clothe the cities in black in his honor, for this is the final pilgrimage before the ultimate farewell.”

The Hashd al-Sha’abi concluded by urging every Iraqi citizen not to miss this historic day, emphasizing the significance of honoring a leader who remained an unwavering symbol of justice and resistance against global hegemony.

In preparation for the solemn proceedings, Iraqi provinces are undergoing extensive arrangements to host the funeral procession. Reports indicate that at least 10 provinces across Iraq have declared an official public holiday for Wednesday to facilitate mass participation in the ceremonies, reflecting the depth of the nation’s devotion to the martyred Leader.

Meanwhile, in the Iranian capital, mourners have concluded three days of funeral ceremonies at the Grand Mosalla of Imam Khomeini (RA), followed by a final procession through the streets of Tehran.

The body of the martyred Leader and four members of his family, who were also martyred during the February 28 attack, is set to be transferred to the holy city of Qom for a separate farewell and funeral procession.

Following the ceremonies in Qom, the martyred Leader’s remains will be transported to the Iraqi cities of Karbala and Najaf for dedicated funeral services, before proceeding to his final burial at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in the northeastern city of Mashhad.
