Unity finds its meaning, manifestation with the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (AS)

A member of the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership stated: "What is important is the centrality of the pure Imams (AS), and especially the person of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (AS), as the axis of unity. Unity is tied to Imam Ali (AS) and Ghadir. One cannot have unity while following Imam Ali (AS) and his progeny remains on the margins. Therefore, unity finds its meaning with him."

Ayatollah Ahmad Beheshti, a member of the Assembly of Experts of the Leadership, spoke to the Taghrib News Agency, congratulating the Eid of Wilayah and Imamate. He stated: "The event of Ghadir is mentioned in numerous narrations and hadiths and in many books of both Shia and Sunni traditions. The widely transmitted hadith—'Whoever's master (mawla) I am, this Ali is his master'—indicates the importance of this great event in Islam."
 
Ayatollah Beheshti stated: "In fact, the hadith of Ghadir is not merely in the sense of being widely transmitted among Shia hadiths; rather, it is an extremely widespread transmitted hadith, and all Muslims agree on this hadith. Therefore, the Islamic Ummah can preserve and strengthen its unity on the issue of love for the Ahl al-Bayt (AS)."
 
This Shia scholar stated: "The meaning of friendship (love) in this hadith is agreed upon. That is, the Islamic Ummah, from the early days of Islam until now, has had no disagreement on the issue of friendship and love for the mawla. The subject of discussion is the word 'mawla'—whether it implies authority and leadership or merely friendship and love."
 
He said: "It is narrated in a tradition that Paradise has eight gates, seven of which are for the followers of the Commander of the Faithful, and the eighth gate is for the lovers of Ali (AS). Any Muslim who is a person of love and does not harbor hatred towards the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) has been assigned the eighth gate."
 
In conclusion, he emphasized: "What is important is the centrality of the pure Imams (AS), and especially the person of the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (AS), as the axis of unity.
