As the festival of Eid al-Ghadir approaches, the Shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf has been adorned with banners, flags, and special decorations, marking the arrival of the auspicious occasion of the Day of Wilayah, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The custodians of the shrine have begun preparing the courtyards, porticos, and entrances, installing inscriptions centered on themes of Wilayah and Imamate throughout the holy site.
Alongside the floral arrangements decorating the shrine, a diverse program of cultural and Quranic events, as well as public celebrations, has been organized. The Shrine Custodianship is currently preparing to host a large influx of pilgrims for this significant occasion.
Eid al-Ghadir, which this year falls on Thursday, June 4th, witnesses every year a rise in the number of pilgrims traveling to Najaf.
Ghadir Eid marks the event when Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), in a speech he delivered near Ghadir Pond on the way back from Hajj in 632 S.D., announced Imam Ali (AS) as the first Imam of Muslims and the successor after himself.
Shia Muslims across the globe celebrate the occasion with festivities and prayers on 18 Dhu al-Hijjah every year.
