According to the Holy Shrine, preparations have been completed to raise the Ghadir flag in various countries and Iraqi provinces, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Haider Rahim, head of the shrine’s media department, told a press conference held in the courtyard of Lady Fatima (SA) with the presence of several prominent media outlets and news agencies that the flag will be displayed in 87 international sites across 28 countries, at 21 locations in 15 Iraqi provinces, in addition to eight banners in the holy shrines, 26 banners in other sacred sites, and in eight locations in the city of Najaf and its surrounding areas.

He added that European countries account for the largest share of flag-raising sites, with 28 locations across several countries including the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania, the Czech Republic, France and Austria. The remaining locations are distributed among Iran (20 provinces), Pakistan (10), India (10), Lebanon (3), Turkey (2), Australia (3), Thailand, Indonesia, China (3), Saudi Arabia and Egypt, as well as several African countries such as Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Kenya.

Rahim noted that this year’s number of countries and events hosting the flag has increased compared with last year.

He described the initiative as part of the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali’s efforts to honor the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Ghadir and to broaden its global presence, highlighting the event’s significance and its humanitarian and faith-based message in diverse communities.

Ghadir Eid marks the event during which Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), on the way back from Hajj pilgrimage in 632 A.D., declared Imam Ali (AS) as the first Shia Imam and his successor.
