The Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei contrasted the Islamic view on women with that of capitalism emphasizing the independence and dignity given to women in Islam.
Islam grants women independence, dignity and equal rights
Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks in a meeting with thousands of Iranian women and girls held on Wednesday morning, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

The Leader said,” In Islam women possess independence, capability, identity, and opportunities for progress, while the capitalist outlook reduces women to subordination, strips them of dignity.”

Ayatollah Khamenei described “the destruction of the family structure and the spread of sexual permissiveness under the guise of freedom as major sins of capitalist culture over the past two centuries.

He said Western capitalism deceptively labels such corruption as “freedom,” even attempting to promote it in Iran, while in reality it is a form of enslavement.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution criticized Western insistence on exporting its cultural model, noting claims that restrictions such as hijab hinder women’s progress and said,” The Islamic Republic has disproved this logic, showing that Muslim women committed to Islamic dress codes can excel and play leading roles in all fields.”

He urged the Iranian media to highlight Islam’s deep and constructive perspective both at home and internationally, which the Leader said would attract many people, especially women, to Islam.

Speaking to thousands of women and girls from across Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei praised Lady Fatimah al Zahra (SA) as a celestial figure adorned with the highest virtues.

He outlined Islam’s view of women’s rights in family and society, including the duties of men toward their wives.

He cited Fatimah’s boundless virtues, devotion, sacrifice, endurance in hardship, defense of the oppressed, political insight, household management, and participation in key events of early Islam, as a model for Iranian women emphasizing that Qur’an’s descriptions of women’s identity and character are among the most elevated and progressive.

Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that in Islam women enjoy equal rights with men in social activity, business, politics, government positions, and spiritual advancement.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution added that women’s social rights, equal pay for equal work, insurance for working women and special leave provisions must be upheld without discrimination.

Ayatollah Khamenei received thousands of Iranian women and girls from across the country on the eve of the birth anniversary of Lady Fatima al-Zahra, the daughter of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) which is celebrated as Mothers’ Day in Iran.
