Journalist Mahmoud Wadi was killed on 2 December in an Israeli airstrike on Khan Younis.
The media office condemned the “systematic targeting, killing, and assassination” of Palestinian journalists by Israeli forces, calling on the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all global press unions to “condemn these sustained crimes against Palestinian journalists in Gaza.”
Despite the ceasefire agreement that formally came into effect on 10 October—brokered by Turkey, Egypt and Qatar, and backed by the United States—Israeli forces continue to carry out extensive violations. According to the Gaza authorities, Israel has conducted repeated attacks during the truce period, killing and injuring hundreds of Palestinians.
Phase one of the ceasefire deal involves the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners and outlines a framework for the reconstruction of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism for the Strip.
