SCO official praises Iran’s determination in counter-terror campaign

A senior official of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has praised Iran’s strong determination to combat terrorism shown since the very first day it joined the organization.

Sergei Kysanyi, secretary of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure’s executive committee, told a press briefing on Tuesday that the first phase of the “Sahand 2025” joint counterterrorism drill ran from July 1 to August 1 in member states, focusing on threats posed by international terrorist groups.
 
He said the exercise also assessed the security of critical facilities and infrastructure in each country against potential terrorist actions.
 
The final phase of the Sahand 2025 drill, hosted by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, will take place over five days in Shabestar, in East Azerbaijan province, with 18 delegations from SCO member states and regional military and security organizations expected to attend.
