President Pezeshkian: The Fundamental Solution to the Palestinian Issue Is Ending the Occupation
He described the day as a reminder of eight decades of occupation, suffering, and injustice inflicted on the Palestinian nation by Israel, noting that recent atrocities in Gaza have unfolded before the eyes of the world while many governments claiming to uphold human rights remained silent.
The president emphasized that the international community has a moral and legal duty to defend Palestinian rights, criticizing the failure of international organizations to confront Israel, which he called the greatest threat to global peace and security. He urged countries to take serious and effective steps to stop aggression against Palestinians.
Pezeshkian highlighted Iran’s official proposal registered at the United Nations, which calls for the return of refugees and a referendum among the original inhabitants of Palestine—Muslims, Christians, and Jews—based on democratic principles and international law. He said this plan offers a viable alternative to previously failed initiatives and seeks to resolve the issue through the principles of self-determination and the right of return.
Concluding his message, the president expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people, praising their courageous resistance against Israeli aggression and praying for their victory and the liberation of Palestine.
