We Are Fully Prepared to Deliver a Decisive Response Wherever National Interests Require
Speaking at the Navy Day commemoration and the inauguration of the Kurdistan floating base, along with the addition of the destroyer Sahand to the southern fleet, Hatami honored the bravery of Iran’s Navy during the Sacred Defense, particularly the Morvarid Operation, which he described as a symbol of courage and a lasting achievement in Iran’s naval history.

He emphasized that after the war, the Navy embarked on a new path of scientific jihad, localization of equipment, and self-sufficiency. With the support of the Defense Ministry’s marine industries and knowledge-based companies, significant progress has been achieved in surface and subsurface vessels as well as naval weaponry. The commissioning of Kurdistan, he said, is proof of this ongoing path under the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief, Ayatollah Khamenei.
Hatami, also a member of the Supreme National Security Council, noted that the Navy plays a vital role in Iran’s strategic depth and defense, standing alongside other armed forces with unwavering determination to safeguard the nation and ensure security for the Iranian people. Iran’s Power as a Source of Regional Security
Hatami stressed that Iran’s strength is not only a guarantor of national security but also of regional stability. He argued that regional and national security are inseparable, pointing to nearly five decades of Iran’s constructive role since the Islamic Revolution. Recent events, he said, have revealed which countries disrupt regional security, leaving no doubt for impartial observers. He added that Western claims against Iran’s military power, including its missile capabilities, were exposed as part of broader plots against Iran’s existence.
He accused the Zionist regime of undermining regional convergence, noting that genuine cooperation among Gulf and Oman littoral states is progressing, while U.S. and Israeli provocations aim to disrupt this trend. Naval Power as a Pillar of National Strength
Hatami highlighted the importance of maritime power as a key element of national strength, giving countries global reach. He explained that Iran’s long southern coastline, access to open waters, skilled manpower, historical experience, indigenous technology, and strategic location all provide opportunities to transform maritime capacity into economic and security achievements.
He underlined that building advanced vessels, expanding naval infrastructure, and enhancing operations in international waters are central to Iran’s naval strategy. These efforts, he said, not only protect Iran’s coasts but also contribute to lasting maritime peace and security. The unveiling of Kurdistan symbolizes national solidarity and years of research and effort in naval development. Turning Threats into Opportunities
Hatami stated that Iran’s defense strategy is based on active defense and smart deterrence: “We will not wait for the enemy to strike. We are prepared for a decisive and crushing response wherever national interests require it.” He added that turning threats into opportunities is not a slogan but a structured process. Sanctions and restrictions, he argued, have fueled innovation and accelerated scientific jihad in defense industries.
He pointed to Iran’s remarkable advances in missile, drone, and naval technologies as proof of the nation’s ability to transform threats into opportunities, calling it a strategic victory against the enemy’s sanctions policy.
In conclusion, Hatami reaffirmed Iran’s ironclad resolve to defend its ideals, national interests, and lasting security: “Our determination is unshakable. We will continue the path of self-sufficiency and defense progress with strength. This is the path outlined by Imam Khomeini and guided today by the wise leader of the Revolution.”
