Hamas Stresses on Halting the Killing of Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli Jails

In a statement issued Friday, Hamas stressed that human rights statistics confirm that since the start of Israel’s genocidal war against Gaza on October 8, 2023, more than 94 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli prisons.

Hamas said: “The killing of Palestinian prisoners reflects a criminal and systematic approach, turning prisons into direct execution grounds for the physical elimination of Palestinians.”

The statement warned of the grave dangers facing Palestinian detainees, noting that these gross human rights violations have been fully documented through eyewitness testimony and credible legal reports. According to Hamas, abuses include “severe beatings, scalding with boiling water, attacks using trained dogs, and sexual assault.”
Hamas condemned the continued silence of the international community and the failure to prosecute Israeli commanders as direct perpetrators of these crimes, saying such inaction amounts to granting Israel a clear license to continue killings inside prisons.
The movement urged all countries, the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and legal institutions to take immediate action, using all available means of pressure to stop Israel’s crimes against Palestinian prisoners. Hamas emphasized the need to guarantee the rights of Palestinian detainees, which are recognized in all international treaties and norms.

Legislative and Policy Developments in Israel

The statement came as Israel’s Knesset Internal Security Committee on November 2 approved a draft law allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners accused of anti Israeli operations, sending it to the full parliament for final approval.
In addition, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz signed an order on Wednesday banning Red Cross teams from visiting Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, particularly in Sadeh Teyman prison, where authorities label prisoners as “illegal combatants.”
International analysts have warned that these decisions could intensify violence inside prisons and worsen humanitarian tensions.
