Al Azhar University condemns Israeli settlers’ attack on West Bank mosque

Al-Azhar University has slammed the recent attack against a mosque in the occupied West Bank stressing that the aggression reveals the brutal behaviour of the settlers against any Islamic emblem.

The prestigious Egyptian university emphasized that the desecration of mosques is a crime that targets not only the religious sites but also the feelings of Muslims across the globe, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The statement by Al-Azhar added that the crime is a flagrant violation of all religious teachings, moral values and the international law and a continuation of the occupation policy that aims to Judaize the entire Palestine.
 
The Egyptian academy called on the international community and related institutions to take serious action for immediate halt of the crimes and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
 
The statement comes after an overnight arson attack launched by a group of Israeli settlers against a mosque in the central West Bank.
 
Attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers have escalated in the occupied West Bank since the Gaza war began in October 2023 killing more than 1,070 Palestinians injuring over 10,000 others.
