Jasmi Johari, one of the project coordinators, stated that the initiative is being carried out in partnership with MAHAR (Malaysian Humanitarian Aid and Relief), the Muslim Care Malaysia Society, and the Haluan organization. The center will be funded through public endowments, with an estimated total cost of 10 million Malaysian Ringgit.
“The 10 million Ringgit budget covers the construction of the building, training programs for calligraphers, materials, and other essential needs,” Johari explained. “Once a suitable location in Gaza is secured, we will begin offering courses in Islamic calligraphy and Quranic script.”
Johari added that the center is designed to create job opportunities for Gaza’s residents and will include classrooms, training programs, and a library. It also aims to preserve and promote Palestinian artistic and cultural heritage.
“This initiative is a symbol of faith and a testament to the belief that rebuilding Gaza must begin with the hearts and culture of its people,” he said.
Datuk Abdul Latiff Mirasa, CEO of Yayasan Restu, announced that the Nasir al-Quran Center will print and send 100,000 copies of the Holy Quran to Gaza as part of the project’s initial phase.
The center’s development also involves Abdulrahman, a Gaza resident who studied Quran transcription at Restu College in Malaysia and is now based in Gaza, contributing to the project’s implementation.
