He emphasized that Western policies have consistently been driven by power and domination rather than justice or truth, and that the Islamic Revolution marked a turning point in Iran’s pursuit of independence.

Historical Context of Iranian Sovereignty
Larijani traced Iran’s legacy of resistance to foreign domination back to the Achaemenid, Parthian, and Sassanid empires, noting that Iran stood as a global power alongside Greece and Rome. “Despite conflicts, Iran never succumbed to Western control,” he said, adding that cultural and intellectual exchanges flourished, with even Greek philosophers like Plato influenced by Iranian thought.
He highlighted the Safavid era as a revival of Iranian independence, where Shah Abbas elevated Iran’s status through science, religion, and military strength. In contrast, the Qajar period saw internal despotism and economic stagnation, leading to foreign interference and colonial treaties such as Golestan and Turkmenchay.
Larijani criticized the Pahlavi dynasty for aligning Iran with Western interests, citing the 1953 coup and the influence of Western ambassadors as evidence of lost sovereignty. The Islamic Revolution: A Defining Break
“The Islamic Revolution redefined Iran’s relationship with the West,” Larijani stated. “It charted a path of dignity, independence, and scientific progress.” He acknowledged that while Iran has maintained academic engagement with the world, Western powers continue to pursue dominance through sanctions, threats, and nuclear pretexts.
He warned that cultural exchange with the West can be weaponized for ideological control. “As Heidegger described, the Western man is spiritually homeless, whereas Iranian-Islamic culture is rooted in truth and spirituality,” he said. U.S. Power Politics and Iran’s Resistance
Larijani criticized the American doctrine of “peace through strength,” calling it a threat to national independence. “This mindset is not unique to Trump—it reflects centuries of Western policy,” he said, adding that such strategies often lead to war and instability.
He likened Israel’s actions to the same imperialist trajectory, stating that recent events have exposed the true nature of both the U.S. and Israeli regimes. “Chaos never benefits its creators,” he said. “Iran’s people and armed forces have forced aggressors to retreat.” Negotiation vs. Submission
Larijani concluded by distinguishing between genuine diplomacy and coerced compromise. “Negotiation that leads to submission is not just,” he said. “The Supreme Leader has managed the battlefield and the nation’s needs with wisdom and strength. Iran has once again asserted its national and Islamic identity.”
He affirmed that while the West clings to power, Iran stands firm on thought, identity, and true independence. “American threats have no impact on our national will,” he declared.
