Hundreds of thousands of Iranians have taken to the streets in the capital Tehran and other cities across the country to mark the Student Day also known as the National Day against Global Arrogant Powers.

Early on Tuesday morning, people from all walks of life, many of them the school and university students began a rally from the iconic Palestine Square in downtown Tehran to the former US embassy where the main ceremony is held every year, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Demonstrators waved flags of Iran, the resistance movements and held pictures of the Iranian commanders and citizens martyred in the 12-day Israeli-imposed war.
Participants also chanted in support of Palestine, resistance movements and cried out slogans condemning Israeli regime and the US.
According to the Islamic Development Coordination Council, more than 900 cities across Iran scheduled to commemorate Student Day with the slogan “United and Resolute, against Arrogant Powers”.
The national Student Day is commemorated on November fourth every year marking the anniversary of the takeover of former US embassy by a group of Iranian students and followers of the late founder of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979.
The seizure of the US embassy in Tehran resulted in the hostage-taking of 66 US embassy operatives, 13 people among them released in two weeks and the rest held captive till January 19, 1981.
The seizure of the US embassy led to the discovery that the place was used for spying operations against the newly-established Islamic Republic rather than diplomatic affairs. The place has been known as the “Den of Espionage” ever since.
US embassy staff had attempted to use paper shredders to destroy US spy documents against Iran including telegrams, correspondence, and reports from the US State Department and CIA.
