Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, the Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, made the remarks in a social media post published on eve of the November 4 anniversary of the Student Day in Iran, also known as the day to counter world arrogant powers, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The Student Day in Iran marks the historic takeover of the former US embassy in the capital Tehran in 1979 by students opposing the former Pahlavi regime.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari called the occasion as a symbol of counter-arrogance campaign and standing against oppression.
He said,” Today, we are in need of solidarity of the world Muslims and boosting Islamic unity in face of global threats.”
The cleric quoted the Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei who called unity as key to victory of the Islamic nation.
Hundreds of students and people from all walks of life gather outside the former US embassy in downtown Tehran every year to mark the occasion.
