According to Taghrib News Agency(TNA), Hanna explained that Hezbollah is now leveraging a “new geographical reality,” signaling a strategic shift in its operational doctrine. He noted that the group’s center of gravity has moved from south of the Litani River to areas north of it.
Israeli airstrike data indicates that approximately 47% of attacks have targeted areas south of the Litani, 37% north of it, and 13% in the Beqaa region of eastern Lebanon.
In contrast, Israeli War Minister Yisrael Katz has demanded that the Lebanese government remove Hezbollah from southern Lebanon and confiscate its weapons. He accused Lebanese President Joseph Aoun of inaction and warned that Hezbollah is “playing with fire,” asserting that Israel will not halt its operations or withdraw from its established security belt.
Responding to Israeli accusations of arms smuggling and force reconstruction, Hanna dismissed the claims as lacking credible evidence. He emphasized that Hezbollah’s current activities reflect tangible structural and personnel changes within the organization.
Hanna added that Israel has used the recent ceasefire period to reinforce its presence along the Blue Line and in disputed territories in southern Lebanon—five points that remain contested.
The United Nations established the Blue Line following Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000. While not an official international border, it was intended to confirm Israel’s full exit from Lebanese territory.
According to Hanna, Israel consistently favors military solutions and seeks to highlight the Lebanese government’s inability to confront Hezbollah directly. He stressed that due to Lebanon’s complex political and social structure, its army is not equipped to engage Hezbollah in direct conflict.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—currently under investigation by the International Criminal Court—has threatened that his government will not allow the Lebanese front to once again become what he called a source of threat to Israel. He stated that the Israeli military will take all necessary actions to prevent such developments.
Reports indicate that Israel has not adhered to the terms of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, which took effect on November 27, 2024, and continues to conduct daily military and aerial operations in southern Lebanon. Israeli forces also remain stationed at five disputed points in the region.
