MANAR, the Alliance of World Mosques in Defense of Al-Aqsa, has issued a statement, following the outrageous move by the US lawmakers calling on the world mosques to mobilize in defense of the holy site, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
This proposal, reportedly led by Claudia Tenney and Clay Higgins and backed by Zionist lobbies including the Zionist Organization of America and the Middle East Truth Foundation, represents an unprecedented violation of international law, religious sanctity, and the 1994 Wadi Araba Agreement, which recognized Jordan’s custodianship of Al-Aqsa.
The Kuala Lumpur-based NGO noted that the move is not a diplomatic issue but a religious provocation aimed at the heart of two billion Muslims saying, “Al-Aqsa Mosque is not a political site to be negotiated, divided, or claimed. It is the first Qiblah of Islam, a sacred trust for the entire Ummah, enshrined in Qur’anic revelation and protected by centuries of Muslim stewardship.”
MAPIM warned that a declaration of “Israeli sovereignty” over al-Aqsa is tantamount to declaration of war on the spiritual dignity of every Muslim. It crosses every red line of faith, history, and humanity.
According to MAPIM, the mobilization calls for Friday sermons and prayer mobilization across Asia, Africa, and Europe condemning the U.S. proposal and global petitions and public declarations by mosque councils and Islamic institutions.
The campaign also urges for interfaith appeals to prevent the politicization of holy places and also a joint emergency declaration by world mosque leaders calling for diplomatic, economic, and legal countermeasures.
MAPIM warned that the move by US lawmakers constitutes a violation of international law and sacred custodianship.
It warned that any attempt to alter Al-Aqsa’s status violates the UN Security Council Resolutions 242, 478, and 2334, which reject Israeli sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem, the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits the annexation of occupied territory and the Wadi Araba Peace Agreement (1994), which explicitly affirms Jordan’s custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites.
MANAR vowed efforts that will engage with the OIC, Al-Azhar, World Council of Mosques, and Jerusalem Islamic Waqf to form a Unified Mosque Defence Front to safeguard Al-Aqsa’s status.
Such an attempt constitutes an act of religious aggression and a deliberate provocation that risks igniting global unrest.
MAPIM and MANAR also declared Al-Aqsa Mosque and the entire Haram al-Sharif as inseparable from Palestinian sovereignty and Islamic heritage stressing,” No political entity has the right to redefine or reassign its status.”
The two NGOs noted the U.S. Congress resolution an act of blasphemous interference that must be opposed by every Muslim-majority nation and asserted,” The Ummah’s unity must now translate into collective defense of Al-Aqsa — politically, diplomatically, and morally.”
MAPIM emphasized the mission of all Muslims and Islamic communities in face of the US lawmakers’ move warning that silence towards that translates to complicity.
