Sunni Scholar: Islamic Leaders Must Heed Qur’anic Guidance on Unity

Speaking to Taghrib News Agency(TNA), Raei reflected on the recent 12-day war with Israel, stating: “The enemy’s goal was to provoke unrest and turn the Iranian people against their faith and nation. But the wisdom of the Iranian people prevailed—they stood firm for their religion, revolution, and homeland. That was a decisive blow to the enemy.”

He cited the Qur’anic verse calling believers to “hold fast to the rope of Allah and do not be divided,” and urged the leaders of all 54 Islamic countries to unite in response to external threats.
“Only through collective action and unity can we prevent any affront to Islam, anywhere and at any time.”
Raei warned that even unintended divisions between Shia and Sunni communities could be exploited by hostile forces: “The enemies of Islam are always lurking. Any rift among Muslims gives them an opportunity to dominate the Islamic world.”
He concluded by stressing that unity must be more than a slogan—it must be practiced: “Shia and Sunni Muslims must learn to coexist and turn their calls for unity into real action. Only then will the enemies of Islam, the Qur’an, and our faith be defeated.”
