World leaders, Muslim clerics offer condolences over passing of Ayatollah Sistani’s wife

Leaders from across the globe, Muslim clerics and jurists from the world of Islam have issued messages to offer condolences after Iraqi sources confirmed the wife of grand Shia jurist Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Sistani passed away on Sunday.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei issued a condolence message on Monday to extend sympathy with the senior Iraqi jurist, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Messages of condolence are pouring in from across the globe and several Iranian jurists among them Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, Ayatollah Hussein Noori Hamedani and Ayatollah Hossein Mazaheri.
 
Also, the head of al-Azhar University, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb expressed sympathy with the senior Iraqi cleric.
 
The funeral ceremony for Ayatollah Sistani’s wife was held in Karbala on Monday and memorial ceremonies were scheduled to be held on Monday and Tuesday.
