International Community Must Prevent the Repetition of Actions that Threaten Global Peace, Security

The draft resolution, citing the UN Charter, the IAEA Statute, and previous resolutions, emphasizes the necessity of prohibiting any attack or threat of attack against peaceful nuclear facilities under the Agency's safeguards. It has deemed any act or threat against these centers a serious violation of international law and a threat to international peace and security.
Our country's Permanent Mission in Vienna noted that the recent attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear facilities, which are under the Agency's safeguards, are a clear violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the IAEA Statute, and have seriously endangered the health of employees, the security of nuclear materials, the environment, and also the credibility of the non-proliferation regime.
It was also emphasized that the submission of this resolution is not only in line with defending the legitimate rights of member states, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, but is also aimed at guaranteeing the security of all nuclear facilities under safeguards worldwide.
The draft resolution stipulates that countries with peaceful nuclear programs are entitled to receive the necessary guarantees for the safe use of peaceful nuclear energy and emphasizes the Agency's role in this regard.
The resolution, while emphasizing the inalienable and undeniable right of member states to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, recalls that the only way to address legitimate concerns is through dialogue and diplomacy, and the international community must, by supporting this approach, prevent the repetition of irresponsible actions that threaten global peace and security.
It should be noted that this draft will be discussed and voted on in the afternoon of Thursday, September 19, 2025, at the IAEA General Conference. Estimates indicate support from independent countries for this draft.
