Dr. Shahriari praised Mostazafan Foundation(the Foundation for the Oppressed) for organizing the event and described the coins not merely as financial instruments, but as cultural artifacts that reflect the depth of Islamic civilization.
“The early Arabic inscriptions on these coins—written without diacritical marks—represent a unique artistic and scholarly tradition,” he said.
“These coins narrate the story of Islamic civilization and convey the values of religious life and ethical conduct to future generations.”
Coins as Symbols of Unity and Identity
He noted that beyond their historical value, the coins serve as symbols of unity and cultural identity among nations.
“They play a vital role in enhancing historical and cultural awareness,” Shahriari added.
Quoting the Quranic verse “We have not sent you but as a mercy to the worlds”, he stressed that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a source of divine mercy not only for Muslims but for all humanity.
“His mercy encompasses kindness, guidance, and divine favor. It is a message of salvation and well-being for all people.”
Islam as a Global Faith of Compassion
Dr. Shahriari emphasized that the Prophet’s mercy transcends religious and geographical boundaries, presenting Islam as a global faith rooted in compassion, ethics, and justice.
“The Prophet is a model of moral excellence and human dignity for all nations.”
He also addressed the defensive nature of the Prophet’s military engagements, including the battles of Badr, Ahzab, and the conquest of Mecca.
“None of these wars were initiated as acts of aggression. They were responses to injustice and aimed at restoring rights and dignity.”
He explained that the Battle of Badr was a response to the looting of Muslim property, and that the conquest of Mecca occurred without bloodshed, demonstrating the Prophet’s commitment to mercy and justice even in conflict.
Defending Human Dignity Against Global Arrogance
Dr. Shahriari highlighted the role of the Mostazafan Foundation and referenced Imam Khomeini’s emphasis on supporting the downtrodden.
“The oppressed are those subjected to tyranny and global domination. Striving for independence and justice is both a divine and human duty.”
He asserted that when human life and dignity are threatened, the global community has a moral responsibility to defend them.
“Human dignity is not confined to religion or sect—it is a universal principle that must be upheld by all nations.”
A Call for Global Cooperation and Resistance
Dr. Shahriari condemned unilateral economic pressures and hegemonic policies, calling for unity among independent nations.
“Countries like Iran, Russia, China, and India represent more than half of the world’s population. Through cooperation, they can resist unjust pressures.”
He concluded by affirming that Islamic teachings offer a timeless model for peace, mercy, and justice in today’s world.
“Respect for human rights, commitment to social justice, and adherence to ethical values are essential for building a just and compassionate global society.”
