Iranian cleric calls for unified Islamic support for Gaza amid ongoing crisis

5 Sep 2025 - 19:15

Molana Gholam-Nabi Tavakkoli, the Friday Prayer Imam of Taybad County in northeastern Iran, urged Islamic nations to rally in support of the people of Gaza, describing them as victims of oppression and genocide.

Tavakkoli made comments at the webinar of the 39th Islamic Unity Conference, lamenting the negligence of some Islamic leaders while Gaza suffers.

Nearly two years have passed since the war in Gaza began, yet Islamic governments have taken no preventive measures to support the Muslim population there, he said.

Instead, some are moving toward normalization with the usurping Israeli regime, he said.

Israel, backed by the United States, is committing genocide in Gaza, Tavakkoli noted.

“While Islamic rulers remain silent in the face of these crimes, it is the duty of Islamic scholars to awaken the nations, unite them against the Zionist regime, and come to the aid of the oppressed people of Gaza.”

Gaza is suffering from severe famine, and women and children are being massacred, he said.

With the theme “1500th Birth Anniversary of Prophet of Blessings and Islamic Nation”, the 39th Islamic Unity Conference will be held from September 7 to 10, 2025, in Tehran.
