Azmi Abdul Hamid, the President of MAPIM has denounced the killing of more than 20 Palestinian civilians among them doctors, rescue workers and journalists as a repeated heinous crime by the regime, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Referring to the killing of a journalist amid live coverage, the Malaysian scholar said,” To murder a journalist on air, and then attempt to disguise the act as a “military operation,” is a crime of unspeakable cruelty — a direct assault on truth itself.”
Azmi Abdul Hamid also decried the double-tap strike on the hospital as “even more heinous” act by the regime forces that targeted the first responders, civil defense teams, and fellow journalists who rushed to rescue the wounded and said,” This double-tap tactic is internationally prohibited and designed to maximize civilian casualties. It is a war crime in its purest, most undeniable form.”
He said,” The occupation’s attempt to falsify the identities of martyrs by labeling them as “militants” is a recycled propaganda tool” adding that the victims were not combatants but humanitarian workers, members of the press, and ordinary civilians, murdered while performing their sacred duties of saving lives and telling the truth.”
The president of MAPIM noted that, like countless other crimes by the regime, this crime shatters the already broken moral claims of the occupation” and decried the repeated lies about hospitals and civilian infrastructure being used for military purposes as nothing but a cynical ploy to legitimize indiscriminate bombing.”
The coalition of Malaysian Islamic groups said,” The deliberate targeting of hospitals, doctors, journalists, rescue workers, and humanitarian staff constitutes grave breaches of the Fourth Geneva Convention and war crimes under the Rome Statute.”
He called the massacre at Nasser Medical Complex as part of a broader genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people.
The MAPIM president urged for immediate and independent international investigation into the Nasser Medical Complex massacre calling on the United Nations, the International Criminal Court and human rights bodies to treat this crime as urgent evidence of genocide and crimes against humanity.
Azmi Abdul Hamid demanded all governments, especially those claiming to uphold human rights, to end their complicity, silence, and double standards and urged for sanctions, prosecution of Israeli war criminals, and international protection for medical facilities, journalists, and humanitarian missions in Gaza.
The MAPIM president also urged for decisive and immediate action to end what he called ‘the reign of terror’ and hold the occupation regime accountable before humanity is stripped of its last shred of dignity.
The message by Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations follows a deadly Israeli strike and a double tap ten minutes apart from the first attack on Nasser Medical Hospital in Khan Yunis leaving more than 20 people dead, among them health workers and five journalists.
