Israel’s Brutal Massacre of Journalists Is a Direct Assault on Truth
The Council declared that this was not crossfire or collateral damage—it was a deliberate assassination of voices the world needed to hear.

The statement, shared with Taghrib News Agency, reads:
“Since the beginning of the war, nearly 270 journalists and media workers in Gaza have been martyred. This marks the largest massacre of journalists in modern history, carried out with impunity under the watch of the so-called international community.”
“The facts are clear: journalists were working in a tent outside Al-Shifa Hospital, a known media hub due to its access to electricity and internet. At 11:35 p.m., Israeli drones launched a precise strike, fully aware of the presence of individuals inside.”
“Israel openly admitted to targeting Anas Al-Sharif, falsely accusing him of being a Hamas member without providing a shred of evidence.”
“This massacre is part of Israel’s organized campaign to silence narratives and directly attack the truth. With international media barred from entering Gaza, Palestinian journalists remain the last lifeline for the world to witness these atrocities—Israel is deliberately severing that lifeline.”
“As Irene Khan, UN Special Rapporteur, stated, attacks on journalists by the Israeli military are blatant assaults on press freedom. Kenneth Roth, former executive director of Human Rights Watch, rightly called it ‘targeted killing.’”
The Council demands the following actions:
An immediate, independent international investigation under UN supervision into the targeted killings of journalists in Gaza. Legal prosecution of Israeli leaders for war crimes, including the murder of media personnel, in the International Criminal Court. Protection of journalists in conflict zones, with binding legal consequences for states that target them. Lifting the siege on Gaza and granting unrestricted access for humanitarian and media missions.
“To global media leaders and organizations: if you remain silent in the face of this massacre, you are endorsing the death of truth. If the press in Gaza is silenced, genocide will continue in total darkness.”
“Israel’s crimes have surpassed the limits of language. These journalists now call for urgent diplomatic and legal action to hold perpetrators accountable and protect the remaining voices in Gaza.”
In a separate statement, the Council expressed its deepest condolences to the families and colleagues of the martyred journalists and photographers, including Anas Al-Sharif, Mohammad Qreiqa, Ibrahim Daher, Mohammad Noufal, and Mo’men Aliwa. Their courage in the face of danger, their commitment to truth from within a besieged city, and their sacrifice in service of humanity will be remembered forever.
“These journalists were the last eyes and ears of the world inside Gaza. Even under direct threats, they refused to be silenced. Their work was not just journalism—it was a lifeline for truth.”
The Council concluded by praying for patience for the families of the martyrs and reiterated its call to the international community to protect journalists in war zones and hold Israel accountable for these and other targeted killings.
