Cleric calls al-Azhar scholars to oppose normalization with Israel
Sheikh Hussein Muhammad Qassim, president of the Council of Palestinian Scholars in Lebanon, called on the Egyptian prominent scholars to voice their opposition with normalization with Israeli regime, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He addressed the Sheikh of Al Azhar, mufti of Egypt and all muftis around the world to, at least, take a clear stance if they cannot do anything else.

“I demand the orators and clerics in al Azhar to voice their opposition with normalization of relations with the Israeli regime” he said and called on them to demand opening of the crossings to Gaza.

Sheikh Mussein Muhammad Qassim also referred to the condition of Egypt following normalization of ties with Israeli regime.

He said,” Now the Egyptians are pleading with the US to send them a little wheat because if it doesn’t, then Egyptians will die, same way that Gazans are dying today.”

His call for opening of the Gaza crossing comes amid the tragic humanitarian situation in Gaza where more than two million Palestinians are suffering starvation caused by Israeli total blockade of the besieged strip.
