OIC condemns Knesset vote to impose Israeli sovereignty over West Bank

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly denounced the recent vote by the Israeli Knesset in favor of imposing so-called Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, calling it a dangerous escalation aimed at entrenching illegal colonial occupation and undermining the two-state solution.

In an official statement released on Thursday, the OIC reaffirmed that Israel, as the occupying power, has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
 
It further stressed that Israel’s occupation and colonial outposts are illegal under international law, relevant UN resolutions, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.
 
The OIC reiterated its call on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and take the necessary political and legal measures to support the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including recognition of the State of Palestine, full UN membership, and efforts to end the illegal colonial occupation.
