UN warns slams Israeli attack on Gaza Catholic Church
The spokesperson for OHCHR, Thameen Khaitan, stated that Israel's recent attack on a Gaza church sheltering displaced Palestinians “may amount to a war crime.”

In a press briefing late Saturday, Khaitan said the strike on the Church of the Holy Family in Gaza City, which was sheltering around 600 civilians, including children and persons with disabilities, raises serious concerns of grave violations of international law, especially with regard to attacks on places of worship and civilian areas.

Al-Khitan emphasized the need to adhere to international humanitarian law, adding that "the deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian areas constitutes a war crime."

He further confirmed that the UN Human Rights Council is currently examining the details of the attack.

Israeli forces have bombed Gaza’s only Catholic Church, killing three people and wounding at least 10 others, one of them in critical condition, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem said, as the military continues its assault across the besieged enclave.
