The victim of the Friday incident near the city of Ramallah was identified as 23-year-old Saif al-Din Musalat, also named as Sayfollah Musallet, from Tampa, Florida, Drop Site News, an American investigative outlet, reported.
The Israeli settlers, however, blocked the path to a group of Palestinians protesting the construction of a new outpost before launching a violent assault on them.
Another protester, named as Muhammad Rizq Hussein al-Shalabi, also received with a gunshot wound to the chest. He later succumbed to his injuries, according to the Palestinian health ministry in the West Bank.
At least 10 others were injured, with witnesses reporting that settlers rammed one protester with a car and shattered ambulance windows.
Israeli forces eventually arrived at the scene, but made no arrests -- a repeated occurrence throughout settler aggression across the West Bank.
According to a new investigation by Drop Site, since mid-June, the Israeli regime has sharply escalated its atrocities across the West Bank, involving mass arrests, home demolitions, and coordinated settler assaults.
The report details systematic military raids combined with settler-led expulsions.
Analysts say the combination of Israeli barbarity and American indifference is aimed at boosting the regime’s “ethnic cleaning” efforts against Palestinians.
The Hamas Movement said that today’s criminal settler attack on the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah, and the assault on residents in Khirbet al-Tal in Jabal al-Batin, south of the town, confirm the terrorist nature of the Israeli occupation and its fascist plans to uproot our land and people in the West Bank.
In its statement, Hamas mourned the heroic martyr Saif al-Din Kamel Abdul Karim Muslat, who was killed by the settler militias’ aggression in Sinjil, affirming that this pure blood will not be in vain and will be a curse upon the occupation and its settlers.
Hamas stressed that the policy of unleashing settler gangs with the backing of the extremist right-wing Zionist government and the protection of the Nazi occupation army will only increase our people’s attachment to their land and holy sites.
The Movement called on the people in all West Bank governorates to rise up and to deter the settler terrorist attacks, and to activate all forms of resistance until the aggression is defeated.
