Hamas Welcomes BRICS Call for Gaza Ceasefire, Urges End to Genocide and Blockade
In an official statement published on its Telegram channel, Hamas urged BRICS member states and the international community to pressure the “terrorist occupying regime” to comply with international law, end its aggression and genocide against innocent civilians in Gaza, and lift the “criminal blockade” imposed on over 2.25 million people.

The BRICS declaration, issued on July 6–7, emphasized that Gaza is “an inseparable part of Palestine” and demanded a permanent, unconditional ceasefire. The statement reflects growing international concern over the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, where more than 193,000 Palestinians have been killed or injured since October 2023, according to UN-recognized figures.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, host of the summit, condemned Israel’s actions as genocide and called on the world not to remain silent in the face of mass civilian killings and the weaponization of hunger.
Hamas praised the BRICS bloc — which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and new members such as Iran, Egypt, and the UAE — for taking a firm stance and urged them to intensify diplomatic and legal pressure to halt the war and dismantle the siege.
