In an interview with Taghrib News Agency, Imanipour attributed Iran’s recent victory and the imposition of a ceasefire on Israel to the unity between the Iranian people and their leadership.
He condemned the June 13, 2025 attacks by Israel on Iranian territory, which targeted residential areas, homes of nuclear scientists, and senior military officials, resulting in civilian casualties. He described the assault as a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and the UN Charter.
He criticized the inaction of international institutions, stating that media manipulation has emboldened aggressors to justify violence. He emphasized that Israel’s strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities cannot be ignored and warned that such adventurism threatens to ignite a wider war in the region.
Imanipour affirmed that Iran possesses the capability to defend itself and has issued limited responses to the aggression. However, he stressed that Iran does not view this path as conducive to global peace or divine approval. He reiterated that the Supreme Leader has prohibited the development of nuclear weapons on ethical and religious grounds, underscoring Iran’s commitment to international norms.
As head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Imanipour urged global religious leaders and scholars to condemn the attacks and take collective action to confront what he called an unprecedented threat to international peace and security.
He also denounced the U.S. strike on Iran’s airspace and nuclear infrastructure, calling it further proof of Washington’s hostility toward a strong and sovereign Iran. He concluded that after Israel’s battlefield failure, the U.S. intervened in a desperate attempt to prevent Tel Aviv’s collapse—but has now entangled itself in a crisis with no clear exit.
