Malaysian Islamic Consultative Council:

Iran Has the Right to Nuclear Deterrence

In a statement obtained by Taghrib News Agency, the council described the attacks as part of a long-standing strategy of regime change, destabilization, and nuclear hypocrisy orchestrated by Washington and its Zionist ally.
Iran Has the Right to Nuclear Deterrence
The statement criticized what it called “nuclear apartheid,” highlighting that Israel—an undeclared nuclear power with hundreds of warheads—refuses to sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) yet continues to receive U.S. protection and funding. In contrast, Iran, a signatory to the NPT with no proven weaponization, is demonized, sanctioned, and attacked.

This double standard, the council argued, is not merely a legal concern but a political tactic aimed at keeping Muslim and independent nations militarily weak and perpetually vulnerable to Western and Israeli aggression.

Citing Article 51 of the UN Charter, the council emphasized that every nation has the inherent right to self-defense. If nuclear weapons are the only language aggressors understand, then Iran’s pursuit of nuclear deterrence is a rational, strategic, and defensive response to decades of sanctions, assassinations, cyberattacks, military threats, and the recent bombing of its sovereign facilities.

The statement concluded by asserting that independent nations facing existential threats must be allowed to possess the means necessary to prevent genocide. It added that those who invaded Iraq under false pretenses, dismantled Libya after disarmament, and destabilized Syria and Yemen lack the moral authority to lecture others on nuclear non-proliferation.
