The statement was delivered to the United Nations as part of the observance of Protection of Civilians Week in Armed Conflict, and was published in full by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its official website.
“Our message is clear,” the countries stated. “Protecting civilians in armed conflict is not optional. It is a legal obligation under international humanitarian law and a moral duty we cannot neglect.”
The statement comes more than 19 months into a genocidal war launched by Israeli regime against the Palestinians in Gaza Strip suffering both the relentless strikes and tight siege.
The Israeli killing campaign has claimed lives of more than 53,700 civilians injuring nearly 122, 200 others, most of them women and children.
However more than two months of Israeli total blockade of Gaza has plunged the territory to famine-like condition.
