Malaysian Islamic council urges for immediate opening of Rafah crossing as Gaza starves

The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) has condemned more than two months of full blockade of humanitarian aid into Gaza warning that the world must act decisively, or risk witnessing the death of an entire people under occupation and siege.

Sheikh Azmi Abdul Hamid, the president of MAPIM, has urged the international community as well as the Arab and Muslim countries to take action to open the Rafag crossing in Gaza and protect the humanitarian organizations to deliver aid to Gaza, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He condemned the Israeli regime for deliberate use of starvation as a weapon of war against civilians in Gaza calling that a direct violation of the international humanitarian law tantamount to genocide, according to the 1948 Genocide Convention.
 
The Malaysian scholar referred to 70 days of full
closure of Gaza’s borders and blocking 39,000 humanitarian aid trucks carrying vital supplies.
 
According to Azmi Abdul Hamid 40 days of bakery shutdowns has left nearly 2.4 million civilians without even bread to eat warning that 65,000 Palestinian children are at immediate risk of death due to acute malnutrition and starvation.
 
MAPIM held accountable Israeli regime and its supporters USA, UK, Germany, and France for the war crimes being committed with impunity.

The Malaysian council also urged the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court to initiate war crimes prosecution against Israeli leaders and military command calling on all nations, civil society, and humanitarian networks to mobilize in coordinated pressure to end the siege and prevent a genocide.
 

With the US-Israeli genocide in its 19th months, the death toll across the besieged Gaza Strip has surpassed 52,900 with more than 119,700 others injured, most of them women and children.
